look at my belly turns 20! 🎉

As I've been putting the finishing touches on our 12th studio album (more on that soon!) I was reminded that 20 years ago this month our 2nd record, Look At My Belly was released.

2002 was a sweet and magical time. Our two kids were growing, exploring, and every day was filled with discovery and adventure. I plopped down in the middle of it all with my guitar and captured it as it came.

Listening back, I hear Dan Myers (producer) and myself discovering our own sound as we explored the new world of making children's music.

Dan and I played most of the parts and instruments ourselves, my friend and future Lil' Band member Claudia Mussen and I sang together for the first time, Lou Gallo added some harmony and my talented buddy Jim Mussen came in, sat down at the drums and tracked the entire record in one night!

I hope you'll have a listen to these evergreen tunes. If you like, introduce the music to friends with little ones learning first words, lacing up their walking shoes and discovering their world. It's a soundtrack to a precious, magical and fleeting time.

Our first press clippings...😂

“Rymer captures the exuberance of little kids with these 13 original songs that celebrate a toddler’s world. You’ll find the perfect tune to accompany any activity, from cleaning up, getting ready for bed, or just hanging out.” - Parenting Magazine

"Rymer allows his listeners to see the world anew, as if through a child's eyes, never underestimating the grandeur of small things." - Lisa Crowley, The Riverhead Independent

"We were easily won over by songs such as "Words That I Know", "Here Come My Teeth" (even though most of us here are at an age when we're losing them) and "Off To Bed". Need to satisfy the kids but are Disneyfied to death? Try this disc." - TriCity News, Bradley Beach, NJ

Enjoy!
Love, Brady

"I See Colors"

From the "Love Me For Who I Am 10th Anniversary Remix" EP (feat. Uncle Devin on percussion)

Do words, numbers or letters have a color for you?

"I See Colors" was inspired by the book ‘Born on a Blue Day’ by Daniel Tammet. His autism causes him to see words, numbers, and letters as colors. This is synesthesia - it’s when you hear a word or a name and instantly see a color. Or like hearing music and seeing shapes. Synesthesia means "to perceive together" or to experience one of your senses through the other. His statement that “he was born on a blue day – a Wednesday - and Wednesdays are always blue.” – struck me. It's beautiful how he sees the world.

Twilight is a warm glowing crimson

Ocean is a deep green hue

Garden’s a hazy shade of yellow

And glad is white with a million specs of blue

When I think of words, I see colors

Colors shinin’ through

When I think of words,

My mind is filled with colors

Tiger, tree, and tulip all are orange

Raspberry’s red and grass is green

Circle’s shinin’ gold all around me

And gate is white, soft, neat and clean

CHORUS

Richards are red and Johns are yellow

Margarets are violet and Lucy’s white

I was born on a blue day - it was a Tuesday

Love is like a million silver lights

Live on WLNG with bonnie grice!

brunch with bonnie.jpg

Thank you Bonnie Grice, Bill Evans & Sandra Foschi for having me over to the lovely WLNG studios for “Brunch with Bonnie” over the weekend! So sweet to spend the afternoon spinning some favorite records, strumming a few on my guitar and catching up. It’s been too long, Bonnie!

Since we couldn’t get to everything I picked out for the show, I created a Spotify playlist including every tune on the list, along with a few more songs that came up in conversation with Bonnie. Enjoy!

My new collaboration with UK children’s artists David Gibb! How many Beatles song titles can you count in this tune?

My first band Rare Breed playing Day Tripper & Back in the USSR from our first demo tape. Recorded in my basement and most likely on a Radio Shack Realistic cassette recorder!

Steven Tyler walked this way right into the Sirius/XM studios joining Claudia Mussen, Liz Queler & I live on the air for a rousing version of “One Day by the Riverside!”

Thanks, Bonnie for making me my own good looking guitar mask!
